The Starfish General English Program offers seven progressive levels, each divided into A and B stages and aligned with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). Before beginning the program, every new student takes an English placement test to ensure they are placed at the level best suited to their current proficiency.
Using a student-centred teaching approach, each course develops the four essential language skills—listening, speaking, reading, and writing—while strengthening vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, and practical communication. Interactive activities such as pair work, group discussions, presentations, and collaborative projects encourage students to use English confidently in real-life situations. The program also develops essential 21st-century skills, including creativity, critical thinking, communication, and collaboration.
Regular formative and end-of-term assessments monitor students’ progress and readiness to advance. As learners move through the levels, they build greater fluency, accuracy, and confidence while developing the academic English skills needed to progress towards IELTS and TOEFL preparation. What courses and what levels can I attend?
Before you join any class, we have placement test to assess your level of English (speaking, reading, writing and grammar/vocabulary test) and put you into the correct class.
What days and times are the classes?
Can I move to another level right after attending a class?
Individual assessment is an ongoing process throughout the term. There are exams during the term, and Starfish also monitors the progress and participation of each student in order to best help students improve their English skills. Those who have met the class requirements — exams, attendance and class work– can continue to the next level.
Do I get a certificate?
We provide certificate of completion to students who have met the class requirements.
