The Starfish Academic Mathematics Program is designed for Grade 1–8 students who need additional support, stronger mathematical foundations, or greater confidence in the classroom. Before joining the program, each student takes a Mathematics Placement Test to identify their current level, strengths, and areas requiring improvement. This enables our teachers to place students at the appropriate level and provide targeted learning support.
The progressive curriculum covers number sense, arithmetic operations, multiplication and division, fractions, decimals, percentages, measurement, geometry, data interpretation, algebraic thinking, and practical problem-solving. Lessons progress systematically from fundamental concepts to more complex applications, enabling students to build their skills step by step.
Regular formative assessments help teachers monitor progress and address individual learning needs. Through clear explanations, guided practice, interactive activities, and real-life applications, students learn to understand and apply mathematical concepts—not simply memorize formulas.
Classes are kept small to ensure personalized attention and meaningful teacher support. What courses and what levels can I attend?
Before you join any class, we have placement test to assess your level of English (speaking, reading, writing and grammar/vocabulary test) and put you into the correct class.
What days and times are the classes?
Can I move to another level right after attending a class?
Individual assessment is an ongoing process throughout the term. There are exams during the term, and Starfish also monitors the progress and participation of each student in order to best help students improve their English skills. Those who have met the class requirements — exams, attendance and class work– can continue to the next level.
Do I get a certificate?
We provide certificate of completion to students who have met the class requirements.
Where are the students from?
We have students from different parts of Yangon city and also students of different ethnic groups from different parts of Myanmar.
